Thanksgiving in St. George, Utah

I can't believe it is already December!! The last couple weeks have just flown by....We went to St. George for Thanksgiving and had a blast, I just love it there!

Lots of food,

and LOTS of eating!

Brooklyn loves to play with the big boys. I just can't slow this girl down. She is crawling everywhere and climbing everything!!

Since the day Brooklyn was born she had refused to take a bottle. I am a fan of nursing, so I was okay with it....But then one day she decided she was done and will now only take bottles. I guess it's all or nothing for this girl! It only took her a couple bottles and she was holding it like a pro!

A few weeks ago my wonderful Aunt Debbie invited all of us girls to a GNO at the wonderful Applebee's. It was such a fun night, I love these ladies!!

Oh, what a fun Halloween it was!

My Tired Little Boy

For the last couple weeks Braden has decided that he no longer needs naps. Whenever I put him in his bed he would freak out, so after awhile I just gave up on naps. A few days later, it was catching up with him and he was falling asleep anywhere and everywhere...This kid cracks me up!

I hope I don't get a call from CPS on this one, but I just had to share...

The Birthday Boy

Braden is THREE!! I can't believe it!!

I decided to make him his own truck cake this year to match his invitations. I was SO nervous about it, but I think it turned out pretty cute.

This year he finally got excited to open his gifts. It was so much fun to see how thrilled he was with every present he opened.

His favorites were of course the new 15' tramp, hot wheels cars and case, t-ball stuff, Nerf football, Halloween beanie, Cars sunglasses, dragon wagon, glow-in-the-dark stars, Thomas the train book, toy iPhone, and an Elmo coloring book.

Thanks so much for all those who came to celebrate with us, we had such a great time!!! Also, a special thanks to the wonderful grandparents who mailed him his goodies:)

I just love this boy so much and thankful for the wonderful spirit that he brings to our home. Happy Birthday buddy!!!

it has cooled down below 100 degrees here in the desert! Braden took advantage of this awesome weather by playing in our dirt:)

Meanwhile, Brooklyn sat on the porch and watched her crazy brother. {While I took a hundred pictures her.}

I am so happy we can play outside again--hopefully we will have grass soon...

Lake Roosevelt

The boat is finally fixed! It was a LONG HOT summer without the Garlock's awesome boat, but we finally got to enjoy it this last weekend at Lake Roosevelt. It really was one of the funnest days we have had this summer. It was so pretty and I took pictures like crazy. In the afternoon it was a little cloudy and it made the lighting amazing! I am so happy we were able to get back on that wakeboard one more time this summer. Until next year my sweet lake.....

This is what I walked in on this afternoon.....Honestly, I wasn't as mad as I thought I would be. It was kind of funny and in a weird sort of way, I was proud of his creativity. haha. But, I didn't want him to know that, so I did make him help clean it up hoping he will think twice before doing it again. Wishful thinking....

For Labor day we headed to the Garlock's for a pool party and BBQ. After we were all sunned out we heading inside to play-

My goodness, it feels like forever that I have actually done a real post. So here is what's been going on.

TOM:

At the end of July, Tom said goodbye to the University of Phoenix and started working for a company called Concentric In Scottsdale. He has done really well, and we are so proud of him and thankful for all of his hard work to provide for our family.

He is also getting psyched up for the Ducks first game of the season tomorrow. GO DUCKS!!!

KASSIE:

About a month ago, I got called to be the Young Woman's Mia Maid advisor. I was really nervous about this calling since I really don't like to teach, but getting to know the girls and the other leaders has been a real blessing.

I got this sweet new jogger on craigslist 3 weeks ago and I have been taking the kids out at about 6:30 every morning before it gets too hot. I go about 3 miles and then let Braden play at the park. It is really such a great way to start the day!

BRADEN:

Tom's brother, Grant has joined us down here in the desert and is living with his other brother Sam. He has a house that is less than a mile away from us. Last Saturday we met at the Garlock's pool and Braden was messing around with Grant's hat. It was so funny!

Braden has started to say his own prayers. There really is nothing sweeter.....

The dreaded potty training....I couldn't decide whether to put this under my name or Braden's name. It feels like this is more about what I am doing than what Braden is doing:) I just started reading this book and I can already tell, this is going to be a LONG process. Wish me luck, and if you have any advise, I need all the help I can get....I am so sick of diapers!!

BROOKLYN:My baby girl is already five months old!! She has been the most amazing baby. Although she is still so little, she is not letting that slow her down. She loves to be up on her hands and knees and lunge herself forward. She is going to be crawling in no time....

This is Tom's cousins baby Nixon. He is 2 months younger than Brooklyn, but has already passed her up on length and weight. They are so cute!

So, that's everyone! Well, except for Roxy, but Tom would die if I put her on here:)

Here is a yummy recipe I found if any of you have some bok choy on hand:)

Ingredients

1 large bok choy or 3 baby bok choy
4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup vinegar
1 T. sugar
splash of lemon juice
1/4 cup soy sauce
2-3 tablespoons oil (just enough to coat the bottom of the pan)

Directions

Wash bok choy very well.

Slice across the leaf at about 1/2 inch intervals.

Discard the bottom when you get to the part with no green on it.

Drain thoroughly.

Chop chicken breasts into 1/2 to 1 inch chunks.

Heat oil in a wok or large, high-sided frying pan with a lid over medium heat.

When oil is hot, add garlic.

Saute for a few seconds, then add chicken.

Saute until slightly browned all over (no pink showing on the outside).

Add bok choy and stir-fry for about half a minute, until just wilted.

Add soy sauce vinegar, sugar and lemon juice.

Cover and cook until chicken is done; about 5 to 10 minutes.

Serve over steamed white rice with soy sauce or teriyaki sauce.
ENJOY!!!!

Camping 2009

A couple weeks ago Tom's brother Grant and his sister Ruth came down for a visit. The original plan was to go to Lake Powell with the Garlock's, but about two weeks earlier their boat was hit and needed some major repairs. They tried so hard to have it ready in time, but there was just too much to do...So we went camping instead! We drove up to Payson and there was an instant 20+ degress drop. It was so nice! It did POUR on us for a couple hours, but other than that, it was beautiful. Thanks Uncle Mike and Aunt Debbie for planning the trip, we had so much fun!

New Trampoline

For Braden's birthday in October, I want to buy him a trampoline. Since they are kind of pricey, I wanted to make sure he really likes it. Every time we go some place where there is a tramp he goes crazy and won't stop jumping, but I was afraid once I got one he would get bored and never use it. So to test it out I bought him this 8 ft tramp on craigslist for a steal. He is LOVING IT. Even though it is a million degrees out, he is still out there jumping away.One morning while he was out jumping it suddenly started to downpour. I went out to bring him in, but he was having a blast! This is really the only time of year that we ever get rain, so he has only been able to play in it a couple times. HooRAY for rain!

I have been trying to get Braden on video saying his alpabet and numbers for several months now, and finally he agreed to do it for the camera! It isn't his best, but I will take what I can get! I have no idea why he said it in such a funny voice...He is one funny kid for sure.

Brooklyn Update

We had Brooklyn's 4 month check-up yesterday and she is doing just fantastic! She is in the 10% for her weight-11 lbs 9 oz and she is in the 25% for her length-23 1/2 inches. She is growing so fast, but she is still so little! Tom calls her his "widdle-widdle". It sounds kinda funny, but it is so cute when he says it. The doc said we could start her on cereal and that's just what I did the minute I got home. It has been a struggle since she didn't like taking bottles, I was the only one who could feed her. So I was very anxious for her to start solids. She did pretty good and I think she liked it.

As much as I have tried, Brooklyn has absolutely refused to take a pacifier. Since the minute she was born, she loved to suck on her hands/fingers. But today she finally found her thumb. We'll see if she sticks with it....

A couple weeks ago she enjoyed her first dip in the pool. It is so hot here, the water temp is like bath water, so she was loving it!

I am completely in love with this little girl and so thankful she is a part of our family!!!!
